Welcome to Topsail, ya'll! You will be fishing aboard the Headhunter, a new Carolina Skiff 198, with Captain David Baxley as your group's personal fishing guide. All charters meet at the boat ramp at Soundside Park in Surf City around 7:30am. All charters are returned back around 2:00pm. Bring the whole family! Nothing is more fun than to see your wife or child catch a big fish! All rods, reels, bait, and tackle are provided. There are canned drinks and water, snack crackers, sunblock, and bug spray on the boat for your use as well. Just bring yourself...we'll add the water!
Inshore charters means that the captain stays on the soundside of Topsail Island, between New River Inlet and Topsail Inlet, no deep sea fishing here! You will be in the Intracoastal Waterway, tide marshes, creeks, and canals. In the morning, Capt. Dave guides you up a few creeks to throw the cast net for the day's bait. Then you are off to the 'patented' Headhunter fishin' holes! Rods are thrown and fish are bitin! You never know what you might catch...a nice flounder, Trout, Red Drum, Blues, Cobia, small sharks, stingrays and skates, king mackeral, Black Sea Bass...
There really is fun for everyone! Nature lovers will truly appreciate the wide variety of marine life that is abundant here on beautiful Topsail Island. While on your charter you will learn a little piece of the local history viewing some historic sites from the Civil War and World War II era. You might hear the tales of the legendary Blackbeard when he frequented the island. Movie buffs will be interested to see some set locations for movies filmed locally. There are many photo opportunities on this charter, you might see dolphins, sea turtles, or maybe even the occasional manatee.
